Good bargain; may not be suitable for all guests.

Definitely a good value, but may not be at all due to safety issues and gates of parking lot locked until 6 am every day.

1) We had a flight out of the Cairns airport (under construction) at 6:30 am. We went to exit the parking lot in the morning (5:30 AM) only to find the gate locked. There was no posted notice visible when we were there during the day when the gates were open. We nearly missed our flight.

2) The hotel's landscapng is at the age where it drops considerable debris, making safety issues. On the steps of the landing going to the second floor, there was an impressive collection of palm fruit, seeds, debris which, especially by the next morning, was a real safety issue.

3) Right off the stair landing leaving to the car parking area there is a 5" black irrigation spray emitter placed so that it could be easily caught by a shoe or pant-leg, causing a fall, especially in the dark because (no lighting there).

Cairns is a bright, vibrant, yet bohemian-esque city and there is something to do for all ages. There is a full range of restaurant prices and dining experience. It is a short drive to be out of the city and into hiking and other outdoor activities.
